Tuesday Apr 26, 2022
Tuesday Apr 26, 2022
In this episode, you’ll hear Mark’s perspective on the importance of implementing an industry-specific management accounting system as opposed to a generic system that only focuses on tax accounting needs. According to Mark, industry-specific management capabilities should not be overlooked as they provide valuable information on where the farm business is at, how it’s performing, opportunities that are present and possible risks that need to be addressed to drive business success. Mark Morton is an entrepreneur and founder of Agribusiness Concepts Consultancy in northern NSW. He has an over 30-year career in agribusiness by working for banks dedicated to the agribusiness field and eventually progressed into a consultancy role focused on the cotton and rice industry. As a consultant, he had access to the best Excel spreadsheet in the market but for Mark, it only reinforced the need for a consistent financial management process specific to ag leading him to create Practical Systems, a software that helps to manage and unlock the value of data embedded within the farm operations. He is an experienced CEO with a track record of delivering technology solutions to primary producers in Australia and New Zealand, delivering growth and value to customers and shareholders.
